Is Blacktown ‘Slacktown’? This has been a hot topic in the media recently!

Blacktown residents agree that while the suburb may have some issues, it does not deserve the ‘Slacktown’ nickname run on the front cover of Tuesday’s Daily Telegraph.

Data released to the paper by Human Services Minister Alan Tudge revealed 333 welfare recipients in Blacktown were regularly missing appointments and job interviews.

The figure represents less than one per cent of the population, and about one in 60 job seekers.

As a media organisation based in Blacktown, we believe that Blacktown doesn’t deserve that nickname!
