Close the Gap is a government supported program with a purpose to reduce health and other inequities within the Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community. PCYC aims to structure our Family Fun Day to promote prevention and early detection/intervention messages to the community which has a high proportion of Aboriginal people living. Close the Gap is a strategy that aims to reduce Indigenous disadvantage with respect to life expectancy, child mortality, access to early childhood education, educational achievement and employment outcomes. |

PCYC Mt Druitt's goal is to close the health and life expectancy gap between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous Australian's within a generation. PCYC's Family Fun Day aims to achieve this through coming together of it's Healthy Lifestyle facilities, the Western Sydney Community with a focus on the Indigenous population, Health Service Staff, Local Schools and Local Businesses. This will strengthen partnerships between health services, community, education and NGOs to achieve the overall goal of the Close the Gap initiative and reducing the disadvantages indigenous Australian's face.
