Statement from SWR Triple 9 FM on Facebook's ban

18/2/2021

Comments

You may have heard about today's events with Facebook banning news media content on its platform overnight. Unfortunately, the SWR Triple 9 FM page has been impacted by this and is no longer accessible. Our admins can only access the page on desktop.

We have lodged a dispute to Facebook, and the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia is working with its stations to reassure us and have released a statement on this. We are a local broadcaster. We do not make any profit, and we serve our community. THAT is our ONLY focus.

Our Instagram and Twitter pages are still active and working, but this may change at any given time. Be sure to stay up to date through our website, as we will continue to remain as your voice in Sydney's West.

We do hope that this will end sooner rather than later, but one can only hope at this point.

Dylan Caple
Digital & Marketing Committee Chairperson

World Leprosy Sunday 2021

31/1/2021

Picture
Leprosy is a neglected tropical disease caused by bacteria.  It rarely affects people in modern Australia, but it’s deeply interwoven with our world’s history. It has been uncovered in skeletons over 4000 years old, and recorded in ancient texts that date back to 600 BCE. However, Leprosy still exits.

Did you know that every 2 minutes, a person is diagnosed with leprosy? For people affected by leprosy, the battle isn't only against the disease, it is also against the despair of being rejected by their community.

Help to stop the pain of rejection for people affected by leprosy this World Leprosy Day (or hold your own). Your support will help with early diagnosis and treatment of leprosy and help stop it from leading to nerve damage, ulcers and permanent disability. And provide community education to end the stigma.

Live Radio Gig 2020 CANCELLED

24/10/2020

Picture
It brings us great sadness to announce that like all things in 2020, SWR Triple 9 FM have had to cancel the 2020 Live Radio Gig, typically held atThe Ettamogah Hotel in Kellyville Ridge.

The news is absolutely devastating to so many people involved in the running & production of Live Radio Gig, as well as the local bands involved. 2020 will be the first time in Live Radio Gig history that the event hasn't run consecutively.

The decision wasn't made easily, but it was one that had to be made.

We're now planning to bring you an even bigger Live Radio Gig next year, in 2021. We'd also like to thank the 2020 Live Radio Gig & SWR Triple 9 major sponsor, The Ettamogah Hotel for their ongoing support.
